Bulldogs fall into 2-0 series hole

The Rochester Americans took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven AHL North Division Final on Thursday with a 4-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs at Copps Coliseum.

Domenic Pittis opened the scoring for the Amerks at 2:42 of the first period. The goal was Pittis' fourth of the post season. Assists on the goal went to Jason Pominville and Derek Roy. Rochester extended their lead to 2-0 at 17:51 of the first period when Roy scored his second of the playoffs from Pominville and Pittis.

In the third, Rochester made it 3-0 on a power-play goal by Jason Botterill from Chris Taylor and Pittis at 8:12. The Bulldogs answered back with a short-handed goal at 11:02 by Tomas Plekanec, his second of the post-season. Roy then scored his second goal of the game, for Rochester, into the empty Bulldog net at 19:15 with Pominville and Pittis getting assists

The Hamilton Bulldogs now travel to Rochester for Game #4 of the AHL North Division Final best-of-seven series Saturday night at the Blue Cross War Memorial Arena.
