Local guest coaches at start of Moose training camp

Today the Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and the Manitoba Bisons men's university hockey club, are proud to announce that two MJHL coaches and one Bisons coach will be participating as guest coaches during the start of the Manitoba Moose training camp from September 24-26.

Don MacGillivary, head coach of the Portage Terriers, Billy Keane, head coach of the Winnipeg South Blues and Mike Sirant, head coach of the Manitoba Bisons will be assisting Manitoba Moose Assistant Coach Eric Crawford during the first three days of camp. Moose head coach Stan Smyl will be in Vancouver during this period working with the Vancouver Canucks.

"The Manitoba Junior Hockey League, along with the Manitoba Bisons, are thrilled to work together with the Manitoba Moose in the development of hockey programs in Manitoba," stated MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis.

The Moose training camp will begin on Tuesday, September 24 from 2-4 p.m. with Billy Keane in attendance. On Wednesday, September 25, Don MacGillivary will be at camp while Mike Sirant will participate on Thursday, September 26. The local guest coaches will be part of assisting in pre-practice planning along with all on-ice drills.

"This is a great opportunity to build awareness of hockey in Manitoba and to highlight top amateur and professional hockey in the province," said Moose General Manager Craig Heisinger.
