Rockford Lightning News Release

For the third year in a row, the Rockford Lightning are kicking off their "Books for Basketball" program.

All students in kindergarten through 5th grade in the Rockford Public School System or elementary schools in the surrounding areas are eligible to participate. If the kids read ten books before December 1st, they will receive a ticket to a Lightning game on December 11th, December 17th or December 29th. Each student will immediately receive a Rockford Lightning poster upon completion of the ten books.

As many as 13,000 students will be able to take part in this offer. To enroll your child's school in the program, please call the Lightning office at 815-874-4232.

'The Lightning organization knows how important it is for children to read," said Head Coach Chris Daleo. "We want to help kids get excited about reading every day. We hope the incentive of a Lightning ticket will push kids to read the first three months of the school year and in the years to follow."

Lightning season tickets are currently on sale. Ticket packages start as low as $63.00. The Lightning open up their home season on Nov.20 versus the Gary Steelheads at 7:05 PM at the MetroCentre. The Jesse White Tumblers will perform at half time. Any further comments or questions concerning this release, please call the Lightning office at 874-4232.
