Monterey Bay FC News Release
Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) announced today that local DJ Esteban "Steb" Montez has joined the club as the official Voice of Monterey Bay F.C. at Cardinale Stadium for the 2022 season.
The Gilroy, California native is currently the Assistant Program Director for KRML 94.7FM radio and hosts a weekday afternoon show on the station. In addition, Montez co-founded local restaurant Nacho Bizness, a food vendor for the club this season. He also DJs weekly at Barmel, a local bar in Carmel, California.
"I'm thrilled to be a part of this football club," said Montez. "This community continues to show its resilience and I have no doubt this team will reflect that spirit. This is our team on the Monterey Peninsula, something we can build and grow with. I look forward to being at the games and cheering right alongside everyone - with a microphone."
Montez began his DJ career at Gilroy High School before moving to Los Angeles in 2002 to pursue music as a rapper and became a member of the group Ostrich Head. He then began promoting concerts throughout LA in venues such as Viper Room, House of Blues, Roxy, Key Club and more before moving to San Francisco to manage nightclub 330 Ritch in 2010. Montez has now lived in Pacific Grove since 2013, and was voted Monterey County Weekly's "Best Club DJ in Monterey County" in 2018.
"Being able to incorporate an established local voice like Steb's into the overall match day experience at Cardinale Stadium was important to us," said Monterey Bay F.C. President Mike DiGiulio. "He is going to bring an energy to the fans that will help to create an incredible atmosphere here. We're excited to get going."
Monterey Bay F.C. single-game tickets and parking passes are available now for the club's home-opening match on May 7 and the rest of the 2022 USL Championship season. Learn more about Monterey Bay F.C. by following @MontereyBayFC on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and online at MontereyBayFC.com.
