Worcester Tornadoes News Release
WORCESTER, MA--- On a rainy Sunday Father's Day afternoon Ryan Lobban (3-1) dazzled through seven and one third innings giving up just two runs to the Capitales, sending Quebec back to Canada with a 5-3 loss.
Mike MacMillan opened up the scoring for Worcester with a two run single to claim the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Designated hitter Alex Trezza continued to swing a hot bat, slugging a pair of doubles with an RBI and a run scored for the Worcester offense that needed a pick me up after last night's stagnant performance. Carlos Sosa and Mike Leonard also chipped in with insurance RBI's in the bottom of the eighth.
For Quebec LaForest, who played third today after catching the action last night, and Lantigua drove in runs to tie the game in the top of the fifth, and center fielder Goefrey Tomlinson's fielders choice pushed home the final run for the Capitales in the ninth. Santiago Ramirez picked up his first save of the season with an inning and two thirds scoreless after Lobban departed.
The Brockton Rox come into town tomorrow night at 7:05 for the first tilt with Worcester in 2009. RHP Alex Pena (2-1) and LHP Craig Anderson (BRO) are set to square off, pre game at 6:50 on AM580, 94.9FM WTAG.
