
Lis Named MWL Player of the Week

Beloit Snappers first baseman/outfielder Erik Lis was named the Midwest Leagues Offensive Player of the Week for the week of May 15-21. Lis leads the Snappers in almost every offensive category, and this past week was no exception. The Snappers went 5-2 last week, while Lis hit safely in all seven games, including three games where he recorded three hits and four games with multiple RBI's. He batted .484 (15-31) with three doubles, two home runs and seven RBI's. Lis is leads the Midwest League in hitting (.353), slugging percentage (.614), on-base percentage (.441), and doubles (19). He is tied for seventh in the league with 28 RBI's. Lis has also belted seven home runs this season.
Lis is Beloit's first player to be named a Midwest League Player of the Week this season. He was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the ninth round of the 2005 June draft. Lis attended Evansville University and is a native of Oak Lawn, Illinois.
The Snappers open an eight game home stand Thursday, May 25 with the Burlington Bees and the Swing of the Quad Cities. Burlington will be in Beloit May 25-28, followed by Quad Cities May 29-June 1. On May 25, all tickets will be just 25 cents in honor of 25 seasons for the Beloit franchise.
