(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced this afternoon that import defensive tackle Khalif Mitchell has been traded to the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for defensive lineman Adrian Awasom and a player on Toronto's negotiation list.

Mitchell appeared in 33 games for the Lions over the past three seasons recording 54 tackles and eight sacks.

Awasom was originally signed by the Argos in December and has enjoyed playing time in both NFL and UFL before bringing his talents north. Signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants in 2005, the Texas-born Awasom played in 17 games over three seasons including the Giants' Super Bowl campaign in 2007. In addition to a practice roster stint with the Minnesota Vikings in 2011, he was most recently a member of the UFL's Las Vegas Locomotives.
