(Vancouver) The BC Lions (4-8) will look for their fourth win in five games as they welcome the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-9) to Empire Field on Saturday, October 2nd at 7:00 pm presented by SUBWAY.
The Leos come off a 29-10 road win over the division-leading Calgary Stampeders last weekend and will look to solidify their hold on a playoff spot with the Edmonton Eskimos hot on the club's heels in the West Division, and the Bombers threatening to take a crossover spot from their East Division position.
Saturday's tilt is the first of back-to-back meetings between the two clubs and it comes at a critical point in a challenging season for the Black and Orange. The teams will meet again in Winnipeg on Monday, October 11th.
"These final six games are critical to our success as the postseason approaches," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. "We have a small window of opportunity to build some momentum and play the kind of football we expected coming out of training camp in June."
The Lions and Bombers are no strangers to meeting each other in big games as the two club routinely attracted crowds of 50,000 or more at BC Place in the 1980's. Two players who were major factors in Lions wins back then will be in attendance Saturday as Roy Dewalt and Harry Holt return to Vancouver to meet fans and sign autographs from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm as part of the Street Party festivities at the north end of Empire Field.
The next BC Lions home game is Saturday, October 2nd at 7:00 pm versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers presented by SUBWAY. Catch the action beginning with the pregame show starting at 5:00 pm on the home of the Lions, TEAM 1410.
