It's another enormous West Division showdown Saturday afternoon as the BC Lions take on the surging Edmonton Eskimos.
Fans are encouraged to take some extra time on their way down to the game on Saturday and enjoy the BC Lions Tailgate Party presented by Nissan starting at 2:00 pm on Terry Fox Plaza. In addition to the unique tailgating experience that only football offers, there's plenty for families too with face painting and inflatable games.
Live music on the plaza will be provided courtesy of Marika Siewart along with a performance by the Felions. Early-bird food and beverage pricing is also in effect inside BC Place from 3:00 to 3:30 pm.
The first 5,000 fans through the gates on Saturday will receive a Solomon Elimimian bobblehead courtesy of BC Place and this week's Amacon Halftime features a Salute to Amateur Football and the 2016 BC Football Hall of Fame induction class.
Game Overview The BC Lions (9-6) look to get back in the win column this week versus the Edmonton Eskimos in what's now a 'must-win' situation for the club if they want to have a chance at a home playoff game next month.
Last week, the Lions let a late lead over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers slip through their fingers and now find themselves looking up at both the Bombers and Stampeders in the West Division standings with the Green and Gold just a win back in fourth place.
As the regular season reaches the final few weeks, a number of Lions have some significant milestones within striking distance. Quarterback Jonathon Jennings needs 595 passing yards to reach 5,000 on the year and would be just the fourth Lions pivot in team history to hit the magic number. Linebacker Adam Bighill needs just four tackles to join teammate Solomon Elimimian with 100 defensive stops this season. If he does so, the Lions will be the first team in CFL history with two players hitting the 100-tackle mark in the same year.
With their postseason path still up in the air, the Lions need to get back to their winning ways and Saturday's encounter with the reigning Grey Cup champions is the perfect way to get the ball rolling in the right direction. -30- About the BC Lions Football Club The BC Lions Football Club is Vancouver's and British Columbia's most successful professional sports organization with six Grey Cup wins: 1964, 1985, 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2011.
