B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club and Purolator encourage fans to help do their part to tackle hunger by bringing a non-perishable food item or cash donation to this Saturday's game versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Volunteers stationed at gates to Empire Field will help collect donations which will be turned over to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society. Currently, more than 25'000 people use the Greater Vancouver Food Bank weekly through 15 food depots and over 100 community agencies located in Vancouver' Burnaby' New Westminster and the North Shore.
Last week, fans in Calgary set a season-high by contributing more than 104,000 lbs of donations through Purolator' highly-successful Tackle Hunger program and Lions fans will their eyes set on that mark this Saturday.
In return for their donation, fans have the opportunity to receive a souvenir photo with the Grey Cup located inside the north gates at the BC Lions Street Party and enter a draw to win two tickets to the 99th Grey Cup slated for Vancouver this November.
