B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import defensive tackle Khalif Mitchell (pronounced Kah-Leef) has signed with the team and has been placed on the practice roster.
Mitchell was an undrafted free agent signing of the San Francisco 49'ers in 2009. He attended training camp that year and was placed on the club's practice roster. He returned to San Francisco's training camp in 2010 and was released in early September.
Mitchell started his collegiate career at North Carolina in 2004 and dressed for 22 games over two seasons collecting 18 tackles and a sack. In 2006, he transferred to East Carolina and sat out the season before resuming his career in the 2007 and 2008 campaigns. He was an honorable mention All Conference USA selection in 2007 after a 19- tackle season which also included a pair of sacks over 11 games. Despite an injury-shortened season in 2008, he managed 16 more tackles and a sack.
