Reading Fightin Phils News Release
For the second-straight night, the Reading Fightin Phils built an early lead and held off a late rally by the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies). The R-Phils defeated the visitors 5-4 on Saturday.
Johan Rojas and Aldrem Corredor each had two hits and an RBI while Jhailyn Ortiz smacked a two-run home run. Ethan Lindow turned in a great start on the mound, holding the Yard Goats to just two runs through seven innings of work.
Reading scored a run in each of the first two innings. In the first frame, Simon Muzziotti walked and stole second. He scored on Corredor's two-out RBI single.
With two outs in the following inning, Jonathan Guzman reached on an infield single. He stole second and scored on Rojas' RBI triple.
In the bottom of the third inning, Wendell Rijo led off with a single and stole second. Ortiz crushed a two-run shot to left field, extending the Fightins' lead to 4-0.
Brenton Doyle got the Yard Goats on the board with a leadoff solo homer in the top of the fifth.
Two frames later, Kyle Datres hit the second solo shot of the night for Hartford, which cut Reading's lead in half.
The R-Phils responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the seventh. Rojas led off with a single and stole second. He advanced to third on a groundout and scored on Rijo's sacrifice fly.
Hartford used two back-to-back home runs from Michael Toglia and Doyle with nobody out to cut the deficit to one. With one out and two runners on, Matt Seelinger entered the game. He got a strikeout and induced a groundout to end the game.
Lindow earned his third Double-A win of the season on Saturday. Through seven innings, he gave up seven hits and two runs, both on solo shots.
Taylor Lehman pitched a clean eighth frame and struck out two.
Mike Adams entered at the beginning of the ninth inning. He gave up two homers to start the frame but induced a flyout for the first out.
