Lincourt Rookie Of Week For Third Time
December 22, 2008 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI.--- Commencing yet another new week in their 2008-09 International Hockey League season, the Muskegon Lumberjacks are continuing to amass some of the more prestigious league-wide weekly awards.
On this date, the International Hockey League, in concert with the Lumberjacks, has announced that center MAXIME LINCOURT has been acclaimed the AQUAFINA / IHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK for the week of December 15th through December 21st. This marks the third time that Lincourt has been the recipient of this weekly league honor.
LINCOURT, 21, assembled another stellar week of dynamic on-ice performance as well as productive offensive numbers for his Lumberjacks squadron.
With his team in action for two games in as many nights the recently-concluded weekend, the native of Montreal PQ, as he has done all season long, validated his true value to the Lumberjacks in both games. Friday night, in his club's 6-4 setback at Fort Wayne, he authored two crafty assists, 5-SOG and +2 rating in a stellar masterpiece. He was even better the following night in Port Huron where the 6-1, 197lb pivot delivered the key, touch-in-the-clutch tie-breaking and ultimate GWG as the middle strike stoked by Muskegon in a 3-goal third period outburst in 4:10 a mere 1:35 after the home standing Icehawks had seized their first lead of the evening, 4-3. The Lincourt connection at 6:09 of that fateful final frame catapulted the 'Jacks into their fourth lead of the game and a lead they did not relinquish.
For the game, he, again, authored 2-more points on 1-goal, 1-assist, 2-SOG and another superb +2 rating. For the week, the yearling centerman collected 4-points in 2-games on 1-goal, 3-assists, 7-SOG and solid +4 rating.
For the season, Lincourt ranks second in IHL league-wide rookie scoring, averaging an impressive point per game on 22-points in 22-games on 10-goals, 12-assists. His 10-goals equal the league's top spot among rookies.
His current season rating of a sterling +11 ranks as third best among this year's freshman class. His 2-GWG tie him with teammate Chad Costello for #1 in the IHL among rookies. Lincourt's latest point-scoring streak has reached 3-games with 2-goals, 3-assists, 5-points in that span.
Earlier this season, he composed an 8-games' point streak which matches the longest attained thus far this season by a Muskegon player. From October 31st through November 21st, Lincourt registered 11-points in 8-games on 5-goals, 6-assists.
This is the third time this season that the Muskegon center has captured this coveted league-wide prize. Lincourt captured this distinguished award in two consecutive weeks; November 3rd through November 9th and, again November 10th through November 16th.
