Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets split a home double-header weekend to finish week ten of 2008-09 at 14-9-1-0 for 29 points and third place in the IHL, three points behind leaders Kalamazoo and Port Huron, each tied for the top spot with 32 points at the Christmas break.

In review of last week, the Komets had to postpone their scheduled game at Muskegon Friday due to icy road conditions. The make-up date of that game is yet to be determined.

Saturday the Komets started a weekend home double-header with a 6-4 win over Muskegon. Sunday the Komets were clipped by the visiting Kalamazoo Wings 2-1. 13,353 fans turned out for Komet hockey in Fort Wayne Saturday and Sunday, braving icy conditions, sub-zero wind chills and power outages thought the Fort Wayne area.

This week the Komets are idle for the Christmas holiday until Friday when they host the Bloomington PrairieThunder to start a busy final week of 2008 skating four games in six nights. The last place Thunder are coming off a 6-3 loss at Kalamazoo Saturday to extend their losing streak to three games. Bloomington 1-7-0 in their last eight outings. Friday's game will be the fifth of 14 meetings this season. The Komets lead the series 3-1-0.

The Komets travel to Port Huron Saturday for a 7:30pm faceoff. The Icehawks turned back the visiting Komets 4-1 in the last meeting Dec. 13. The Komets lead the season series 3-2-0 and are unbeaten on Port Huron ice so far this season 3-0-0.

Monday, Dec. 29, the Komets will host the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30pm in a special holiday Monday game. The game will feature a free family skate after the game courtesy of Wendy's.

The Komets will host Flint Wednesday, Dec. 31 for the traditional Fort Wayne New Year's Eve game at 7:30pm.

After New Year's Eve, the Komets will continue a stretch of seven games in 10 nights when they begin the 2009 portion of the schedule at Port Huron Friday, Jan. 2. Saturday, Jan. 3 the Komets skate at Kalamazoo and Sunday, Jan. 4 the Komets play at Flint.

Streaking Komets: Left wing P.C. Drouin had points in each game to extend his league-leading point streak to 11 games (5 goals, 12 assists) and is riding a season-high assist streak of eight games (9 assists). Defenseman Brandon Warner is riding a four-game point streak (3 goals, 2 assists) after registering points in each game of the week.

Special K's.....the Komets' continue to rank #1 in the IHL on the penalty kill with an 86.9% efficiency rating after allowing only one power play goal in 13 kills. The Komets scored five power play goals on 12 chances in the two games played to continue to lead the IHL on the power play with a 22.4% rating.
