St. Joseph Blacksnakes News Release
LINCOLN, NE- St. Joe's (21-19, 47-41) bats were quieted by Lindsay Gulin in Lincoln's (28-13, 59-30) 7-1 victory Friday night.
Lincoln took the lead when Brett Cooley hit his second home run of the series, a solo shot in the third for a 1-0 lead. They added two more in the inning and that was more than enough for Lindsay Gulin.
Gulin (12-2) did not allow a hit until there was one out in the eighth when Misha Dworken looped a single to center field. Later that inning the Blacksnakes plated their only run on Jimmy Mojica's run-scoring single, but Brett Cooley put the game away with his second home run of the game, a three-run shot in the eighth to make it a 7-1 final.
The Blacksnakes finished with just three hits and have nine hits and three runs total in splitting the first two of the three-game series. The 'Snakes also dropped to a game-and-a-half behind St. Paul in the wild card chase with the Saints 16-4 drubbing of Sioux Falls.
The two teams conclude the regular season series Saturday night at 7:05pm. It is the final meeting of 2006 between the teams unless the Blacksnakes make the post-season where the two teams. Mark Nussbeck (8-3) starts for the 'Snakes against the Saltdogs' Ben Fox (8-3). The webcast starts at 6:45pm with the Heartland Health Pre-Game show at www.stjoeblacksnakes.com.
