Fort Worth broke a 3-3 tie by scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Sioux City and maintain their three game lead over Shreveport in the South Division. Fort Worth newcomer RF Carlos Sepulveda and 1B Shawn Williams were the stars night at the plate as they went a combined 4-for-8 with two runs scored and four RBI. Williams hit his first homer of the year as well for the Cats. Cory Walters keeps rolling along as he wins his league leading 13th game of the season by pitching a complete game allowing three earned runs with 12 strikeouts. 3B Jake Daubert had three hits in four plate appearances for Sioux City.

St. Paul 16, Sioux Falls 4

St. Paul pounded out 21 hits and plated 16 runs en route to the easy win over Sioux Falls. With the victory and St. Joe's loss to Lincoln, St. Paul's lead is now 1.5 games in the race for the North Division Wild Card. SS Brian Sprout had a 3-for-6 night for the Saints with two runs scored and an RBI. 3B Pat Scalabrini had a 3-for-4 night with two runs scored as well for St. Paul. For the Canaries, CF Chad Hermansen had a 2-for-3 effort with his 18th home run of the season. That home run is good for a tie for second in the American Association with Sioux City's Jorge Moreno.

Shreveport 6, Pensacola 1

Shreveport continues to be the hottest team in the American Association as they beat the Pelicans tonight and win their ninth straight game in a row. The victory keeps them three back of Fort Worth in the South Division. 3B Melvin Falu and 2B Ron Fenwick each had 2-for-4 nights for the Sports with both scoring a run. Bert Snow gets the win, his eighth of the season, going six innings giving up a run on four hits with five strikeouts. Derek Cunningham would pitch the last three innings for Shreveport to get his first save of the year.

Lincoln 7, St. Joe 1

Lindsay Gulin was sensational again tonight as the league's best pitcher leads the Saltdogs to another win. Gulin went eight strong innings giving up an earned run on only two hits with eight punchouts. The 12-game winner had a no-hitter going through seven innings. To aid Gulin tonight, 1B Brett Cooley had a big game with a 3-for-4 effort with two runs scored and four RBI, including his 12th and 13th home runs of the season. For St. Joe, the loss drops them to 1.5 games back of St. Paul for the North Division Wild Card.

Coastal Bend 11, El Paso 8

Coastal Bend scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the lead for good and beat El Paso. The win by Coastal Bend is their fifth in a row and keeps them 4.5 games behind Fort Worth in the South Division. The top three in the Coastal Bend lineup, CF Ryan Ruiz, LF Brian Fryer, and RF Pat O'Sullivan had two hits apiece with Ruiz and Fryer both plating two runs. J.R. Pickens get his ninth win in relief pitching one inning allowing a run on two hits. RF J.P. Schmidt was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI for the Diablos.
