Featured throughout the book, Kelly was the first Commissioner of the ECHL and during his tenure the league experienced the greatest expansion in minor league hockey history, growing from five teams to 21. He became Commissioner Emeritus in 1996 and since 1997 has presented the postseason champion with the trophy named in his honor, the Patrick J. Kelly Cup.

Written by minor league hockey historian and author Jim Mancuso, "20 Years of the ECHL" has been described as a "must read" for ECHL fans.

Featuring more than 200 photographs and interviews with Kelly as well as league founders Henry Brabham and Bill Coffey, the book provides insight into the important role that the ECHL has played in minor professional hockey while also profiling 50 of the league's outstanding figures as well as selecting 50 outstanding alumni.

The book costs $26 for orders in the United States and $31 for orders in Canada.
