Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Las Vegas (NV) - In 2019 Lights FC debuted their "Reading Goals" program, which incentivized thousands of elementary and middle school students from the Las Vegas Valley to read a certain number of books as set by their schools. This year the program is being rebranded "School Goals" to extend the Club's student reward program to include not just reading-related student goals, but any goals set by their teachers such as attendance and behavior related student goals.
"While our team takes care of business scoring goals on the pitch, we want to motivate students to reach their school goals as set by their teachers," said Lights FC owner and CEO Brett Lashbrook. "This program was so successful last season that we are excited to expand it this season. Local teachers have been so supportive of having our players visit their classrooms across the valley."
Players, coaches, and team mascot Cash The Soccer Rocker visited over 100 schools last season, leading assemblies in front of thousands of children throughout the calendar year, explaining the importance of reaching their goals in the classroom. The Lights goal is to exceed that number of school visits this year.

"I had a great time visiting the schools last year and seeing the smiles on kids' faces every time we visited them. It helped motivate me to keep working hard day in and day out", stated Lights FC goalkeeper Angel Alvarez. The Rancho High School alum and Las Vegas native always had a special connection with students he met. He always loved helping them understand that they can accomplish their dreams with hard work and dedication.
Continuing their commitment to the Las Vegas community, Lights FC is bringing back this program in 2020 and rebranding it "School Goals". This fun and exciting way to encourage students to reach their goals in school is FREE for any school that chooses to participate. Each school will determine its own goals, and the Lights FC will support by providing a great incentive of receiving a complimentary ticket to any Lights FC match by reaching those goals.
"We're much more than a football club, we're part of a great community that we love giving back to," said Lights FC Manager Eric Wynalda.
