Lights FC Plays Under National Spotlight in Detroit
August 19, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Lights FC took on Detroit City FC in a match that aired live on ESPN 2 as the first of two consecutive USL Championship games that were televised on Saturday night.
A mistake from Timothie Zalie left goalkeeper Andre Zuluaga in a bad position in his own box, allowing Detroit to take advantage of the error by opening the score in the 36th minute as Maxi Rodriguez stole the ball and set up Skage Lehland for the goal.
Both Las Vegas and Detroit registered 4 shots on target, with Lights FC outshooting their opponents 11 to 10, but weren't able to put the ball in the back of the net in this 1-0 road defeat.
This was the ninth defeat for the Lights this season where the difference on the scoreboard ended up being only one goal.
NEXT GAME:
Lights FC will return home on Saturday, August 26th to start three consecutive weekends with matches at Cashman Field by hosting Phoenix Rising FC at 7:30 p.m.
#DonateLife night will be held in partnership with Nevada Donor Network, where all local Healthcare Workers are eligible to receive two free tickets for this match by visiting LightsFC.com/DonateLife.
Multiple festivities are planned for this night, including "Organ" designed jerseys being worn by players, plus a special on-field halftime recognition ceremony.
