August 30, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Lights FC played their second game in a five day span as they visited New Mexico United on Wednesday night in a back-and-forth battle.
The home side was the aggressor in the first half, pushing numbers forward and getting rewarded in the 34th minute by opening the score with a shot from Amando Moreno.
Las Vegas didn't take long to respond, as exactly two minutes later they took advantage of a set piece. Andrew Carleton executed a corner kick to perfection that was hammered down by Marcelo Lage to level the game 1-1.
Early in the second half Las Vegas shocked everyone at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque by burying the ball in the back of the net twice in a two minute span. First with Tyler Bagley taking a shot from outside the box that sneaked by the goalkeeper in the 51st minute, followed up by a counterattack that concluded with Danny Rios scoring in the 53rd minute to take a 3-1 lead.
New Mexico didn't throw in the towel and goalkeeper Andre Zuluaga saved multiple opportunities, but in the final 15 minutes of the match New Mexico leveled the score courtesy of Amado Moreno in the 76th minute and Will Seymore in the 89th.
Lights FC scored more than twice for just the second time this season, both of them being in a 3-3 tie (vs Birmingham on July 8th).
