Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release
EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (7-9-11) faced San Antonio FC (13-4-10) in a Copa Tejas final at H-E-B Park. San Antonio managed a Copa Tejas repeat with the draw result which saw both sides battle it out in a tight 0-0 match. The overall series went in favor of SAFC this season 1-0-1.
The match kept a fast pace throughout the initial 30 minutes of the match as both sides headed into a hydration break all notched up at 0-0; Rio Grande Valley FC managed one dangerous approach when Taylor Davila sent a direct free kick shot from the left end of the field, hitting the far post and just bouncing out.
After a tightly contested second half, things were notched up at no goals as the clock struck the 85th minute, San Antonio FC had managed 10 shots, two on target while limiting Rio Grande Valley to no shots on target and just four opportunities.
Nothing doing for either side tonight as they both claimed a single point behind a deadlocked result. Next up for Rio Grande Valley is a must win road match at Phoenix Rising FC.
