Lightning Welcomes Back Kenyatte Morgan

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning have been assigned wide receiver Kenyatte Morgan (ken-YAW-tah) by the arenafootball2 league office, Head Coach Doug Murray announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

gWe needed some veteran leadership on offense, especially at the reciver spot and Kenyatte fills that void,h said Murray. gHopefully he can be as productive, if not better than last year and wefre looking for him to provide a much needed experience and savvy to our team.h

Entering his fifth year of af2 experiewnce, Morgan is the af2fs all-time leader in kick-return yards (5,480) and ranks second on the af2 all-time chart for all-purpose yards (9,940), sitting 2,338 yards behind Jarrail Jacksonfs benchmark of 11,828 total yards.

Last season, Morgan led the Lightning with 2,659 all-purpose yards and 1,540 kick-return yards, additionally ranking second on the Lightning in receivig yards (1,049) and third in touchdown receptions (15). Morganfs is the Lightning career leader in scoring (228 points), kickoff return yards (3,333) and receiving yards (1,768).

Morgan, 30, garnered all-af2 First Team honors for the second time in his af2 career in 2006, leading the league with 23.2 average kick-return yards, 1,793 kick-return yards (second-best career output), four kick-return touchdowns, and ranking second in the league with 2,644 all-purpose yards. Morganfs season-best for kick returns came on June 3 versus the Memphis Xplorers, returning 10 kicks for 227 yards, while posting 266 all-purpose yards.

Morgan had two games in 2006 with 200 kick-return yards or more, while tallying 100 kick-return yards or more in a stretch of six out of seven games.

In addition, the Lightning announced the following roster moves:

œ WR Donva Louder placed on team suspension

œ DB Ruschard Dodd-Masters acquired from the Tri-Cities Fever in exchange for future considerations and placed on grefused to reporth list

œ WR Thyron Lewis traded to the Tri-Cities Fever in exchange for future considerations

Dodd-Masters, who turns 26 on Friday, was a member of the Lightningfs inaugural season-opening roster in 2006 and ranked second on the Fever last year with 68.5 tackles, third with four interceptions and led the team with 32 pass breakups. Dodd-Masters split the 2006 season between the Lightning and Everett Hawks, amassing 53.5 tackles in 15 combined games. The UNLV product ranked second on Everett in tackles (49.0), interceptions (2) and pass breakups (8) in 2006.
