Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release

(Wilkes-Barre) The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers 2008 kicking carousel came to a halt Wednesday with the return of 2007 af2 Havoc Kicker of the Year David Davis. Davis's return for his fifth season with the club buoys a Pioneers kicking game that has struggled throughout the year.

"This team looks even better than the American Conference Championship team from last year," commented Davis, "I'm very excited to return to such a great team and will work hard to bring a championship to the great fans of Northeastern Pennsylvania."

The unbelievably accurate fan favorite has been a fixture in the community during his time in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He has spoiled Pioneers fans with both his skills and his kindness.

The 5'11 160 pound USC product is the Pioneers all-time leader in field goals and extra points made and stands only twenty extra points away from setting the all-time af2 record. He joins the Pioneers after spending the beginning of the season with the AFL's LA Avengers where he ranked 10th in the league with 67 points.

David converted 92% of his extra points in 2007 and did not miss a kick in the entire 2007 postseason, including a 20 yard field goal and nine PATs in the ArenaCup Championship Game.

The Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Pioneers will be on the road this week for Monday night football in Mahoning Valley at 6:30. They will return home for Geisinger Ladies Wellness Night against the Quad City Steamwheelers, 7:30pm at the Wachovia Arena. The first 2000 ladies will receive a pink Pioneers hat courtesy of Geisinger and there will be thousands of dollars in ladies mind, body and soul giveaways. Tickets are available at the Wachovia Arena box office, call the Pioneers at 570-970-4232 or online at www.wbspioneers.com.
