Rockford Lightning News Release

The Rockford Lightning take an eight game winning streak on the road to Gary, Indiana to face the Steelheads this Friday and Saturday night. Game time for both nights is set for 7:05 P.M. (CST), and both games can be seen on the CBA website at www.cbahoopsonline.com and clicking on the LIVE webcast option.

Head Coach Chris Daleo has the Lightning off to the best start in franchise history, tying the 1992-93 season, by winning 24 of the first 32 games. While the 1992-93 team finished the regular season on a sixteen game winning streak, this season's Lightning team has won 19 of their last 22 games and is at first place in the Eastern Conference. The team is 12-2 in games decided by 6 points or less, and 17-3 against Eastern Conference opponents. They have not lost at home since the lights went out at the MetroCentre on December 10th, having won 13 straight games.

Daleo was named the CBA Coach of the Month for January. The Lightning Coach had a busy month as he moved into second place among all-time wins leaders with the Lightning at 106 wins in his four seasons with the team. His .608 winning percentage puts him first among Rockford coaches and seventh in the history of the CBA. Daleo also coached in his third all-star game in four years on January 17. This is the fourth Coach of the Month award in Coach Daleo's career and second of this season (November). He was also named the CBA Coach of the Year in 2003.

Roger Powell needs to average 18.7 points a game for the final 16 games of the regular season in order to break Kendrick Warren's scoring record of 1,012 points by a Lightning rookie. The 6-foot-6 forward out of the University of Illinois is averaging 22.3 points a game in the first 32 games this season.

With 4 or more steals in five of his last seven games, Ronnie Fields now leads the league in averaging 2.1 steals a game (66 total). With Kenyon Gamble leading the league in blocked shots (2.1 a game), the Lightning now have a player at the top of each of the major defensive categories. Gamble also leads the league in field goal percentage, shooting 66.3% from the field. Marlon Parmer leads the league in assists, averaging 7.9 a game, and Sidney Holmes leads the CBA in offensive rebounds with 3.7 a game.

Lightning fans tune into Channel 23 WIFR with host Mike Garrigan for the "Coach Daleo Television Show", the number 1 rated sports talk show in the Rockford area, sponsored by Riverside Community Bank. The show will run from 11:00-11:30 P.M. this Sunday, February 5.

The team will return home to face the Steelheads for the third straight game on Tuesday, February 7, at the MetroCentre. The first 1,000 fans in attendance that night will receive a free Coach Daleo poster. Tip-off for Tuesday's contest is 7:05 P.M. (CST) with doors opening at 6:00. Group tickets can be purchased at a discounted price through the Lightning offices at 815-874-4232.
