'Force Defeats Conference Leader

Sioux Falls, SD (February 2, 2006) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Yakama Sun Kings tonight 119-95 (6, 1) to move to 19-15 on the season. The ‘Force was playing at home for the first time since January 13th and did not disappoint the hometown fans with a convincing win over the team they are chasing in the standings. Yakama dropped to 19-12 with the loss and looks to rebound on Saturday as the same two teams will go at it again.

The ‘Force had five new players on the roster making their home debut and they did not disappoint as they came out with a lot of intensity in the opening quarter. The ‘Force led by as many as 14 points (28-14) in the first quarter and eventually won the quarter 32-19 behind 10 points from newcomer Billy Thomas. The ‘Force did not back down in the second quarter as they led by as many as 23 points (59-36) with under 3:00 to go in the first half. The ‘Force went into halftime leading 63-43 as they won the second quarter 31-24 behind nine points from Noel Felix. The ‘Force would maintain the comfortable double-digit lead in the third quarter, however, the Sun Kings won the third quarter 33-32 behind 13 points from Antwain Barbour as the score was 95-76 after three quarters of play. The ‘Force would enjoy their largest lead of the game of 26 points (102-76) early in the fourth quarter and then focused on winning the final quarter. They would do just that as they won the fourth quarter 24-19 behind 10 points from Geno Carlisle.

The Skyforce's next game is on Saturday, February 4th, at home against the Yakama Sun Kings. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.
