Rockford Lightning News Release
The Rockford Lightning have announced the signing of Rico Hill for the remainder of
the 2005-06 CBA season, pending league approval.
The 6-6 forward from Illinois State University is the brother of Lightning forward
Sidney Holmes, and cousin to reserve guard Cordell Henry. He was the second round
draft pick, 31st overall selection, of the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1999 NBA
draft.
Hill is a CBA veteran having played for the Dakota Wizards and Fargo-Moorhead Beez
during the 2001-2002 season. He averaged 11.8 points and 5.6 rebounds for the
Wizards in 28 games (12 starts) before joining the Beez midseason. With his new
team, Hill averaged 25.9 points and 7.9 rebounds in seven games. He also hit 43.8%
(14-of-32) from three-point range with the Beez that season. Hill comes to the
Lightning from the San Miguel Beer of the Philippines Basketball
Association.
"I've known Rico personally and professionally for the past six years", said
Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo. "I have known him to be a hard working and
professional athlete both on and off the court. This should be a perfect fit in the
Lightning's quest for a CBA championship".
The Lightning will host the Idaho Stampede tonight at the MetroCentre. Tip-Off is set for 7:05 P.M. (CST). The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Marlon Parmer Poster sponsored by Holiday Inn Express, Rockford Register Star, 11th Street Express Printing, Hampton Properties, and Rockford Orthopedic Association. Great seats are still available for the game. Group and season tickets can be purchased through the Lightning Office by calling 815-874-4232. Single game tickets can be purchased through the MetroCentre Box Office by calling 815-968-5222.
