
Lightning home win streak ends at seven

Rockford, IL- After seven home wins to open up the season, the Rockford Lightning had their winning streak at the Rockford MetroCentre snapped in a 93-89 loss to the Great Lakes Storm. The Lightning did not have a player score over 20 points in the ball game, although five Bolts scored in double digits.
Rockford held a seven point lead at halftime, and had momentum for the first part of the third quarter. However, Stais Boseman found himself with two technical fouls and ejected at the 7:22 mark of the third quarter. Rockford hung close with Great Lakes towards the end of the ball game, but could not get past the Storm. Marshall Phillips led the scoring for the Lightning, scoring 16 points on the night. Keith Closs set a season-high with six blocked shots in the contest, and Marshall Phillps and Jermaine Williams had two blocks a piece for a Lightning total of 10 blocks, which is also a season high. Brian Lubeck had a double double for the Bolts with 15 points and 12 rebounds, the third straight game a Lightning player has had a double double. Doug Smith and Mark Jones led the scoring for Great Lakes with 23 points a piece.
The Lightning travel to Gary tomorrow night for a road game against the Steelheads at 7:05 p.m. You can catch the broadcast of the game on News Talk 1440 WROK. Then, the Bolts return home to face the Steelheads for a game on the day after Christmas.
