Rockford Lightning News Release
The Rockford Lightning announced that they have signed centers Kenyon Gamble and
Marcus Campbell to the roster, pending league approval. Terms and conditions of the
contracts were not disclosed. Gamble played his college basketball at Tuskegee
University, while Campbell played for Mississippi State University.
Gamble, a 7-foot center from Chicago, Ill., was listed among the top 25 players in
NCAA Division II in rebounding and sixth in blocked shots a year ago. He averaged
9.4 rebounds and a total of 92 blocked shots in 28 games during the 2004-2005
season. He also finished the season scoring 10.4 points a game and finished with a
48.4 career field goal percentage. The Lightning drafted Gamble in the second round
(14th overall selection) of the 2005 CBA draft.
Campbell, also a 7-foot center from Winter Haven, Fla., played his college career
with Mississippi State University. He started 28 of 32 games for MSU during his
senior season and finished 18th in the Southeastern Conference with an average of
5.0 rebounds a game. He averaged 6.0 points and 1.0 block per game during the
2004-2005 season, and finished his career with a 52.9 field goal percentage.
Campbell has spent the off-season with the Sacramento Kings in the Reebok NBA Summer
League.
Gamble and Campbell will be in camp with the Lightning this week getting ready for
the season opener in Gary on Friday. Also reporting to camp this week is Lenny
Cooke, a 6-foot-6 playground legend from New York City. He joins Ronnie Fields as
another high school phenom with the Rockford Lightning.
"We are very excited about the additions to camp this week," said Lightning Head
Coach Chris Daleo. "Anytime you can add two 7 footers and a guy that can score
whenever he touches the ball, it is a good week."

The home opener is less than a week away and great seats are still available for this Sunday's game against the Gary Steelheads at the MetroCentre on Sunday, November 20, at 5:05 PM.
