October 28, 2005 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Rockford Lightning News Release

The Rockford Lightning today announced the signing of guard Bobby Brown and center Abe Keita for the 2005-06 CBA season, pending league approval. Per club policy, all terms of the contracts are confidential.

Brown, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound guard, joins the Lightning after two seasons in the World Basketball Association. In 2004, Brown was a member of the Rome Gladiators where he averaged 8.6 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. In 2005, Brown suited up for the Southern Crescent Lightning, averaging 20.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game. Brown's nearly 21 points per game average was good for fifth in the WBA while his 3.3 steals per game led the WBA. Brown was also named the WBA Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Keita, a 6-foot-10 center from St. John's, was the 5th round pick of the Lightning in the 2004 CBA Draft. Keita was an integral part of the 2003 NIT Champion St. John's Red Storm. After his time at St. John's, Keita suited up for the Adirondack Wildcats of the United States Basketball League. In 24 games, Keita averaged 2.6 ppg. and 3.4 rpg. In 2005, Keita played for the Cleveland Majic of the WBA, averaging 2.7 ppg. and 4.0 rpg.

"Both Bobby and Abe are players that could help us this year," said Lighting Head Coach Chris Daleo. "Both are defensive minded players who should be able to contribute this season. Bobby is able to guard anywhere from the 2, 3, or 4 spot and Abe is a capable shot blocker in the post. We are excited to have both in camp for us and we will see what they have to offer to the success of the Lightning."

Lightning season tickets are currently on sale. Ticket packages start as low as $63.00. The Lightning open up the home portion of its schedule on Nov. 20 versus the Gary Steelheads at 7:05 PM in the MetroCentre. The Jesse White Tumblers will perform at halftime.
