Liberty to Induct Sue Wicks into Liberty "Ring of Honor" Tomorrow Night

NEW YORK, NY - July 27, 2011 - The New York Liberty is celebrating 15 years in the WNBA by unveiling the first five inductees into the Liberty "Ring of Honor." The "Ring of Honor" represents former players who have made the most significant contributions to the Liberty's tradition of excellence and to the growth of the WNBA. On Thursday, July 28, Liberty legend Sue Wicks joins Vickie Johnson and Teresa Weatherspoon as the third New York Liberty "Ring of Honor" inductee. Wicks will be honored during a halftime ceremony at the team's game versus the Washington Mystics at Prudential Center. The game will be telecast on MSG Network.

Wicks, a six year Liberty veteran, holds six franchise records and eleven playoff franchise records while leading the team in blocks for three seasons. The fourth "Ring of Honor" inductee, as selected by a distinguished committee, is Kym Hampton, who will be honored on Tuesday, August 30 (Liberty vs. Chicago Sky at 7pm).

The fifth and final "Ring of Honor" inductee for the 15th anniversary season has been selected by fans through an online vote and will be announced at a later date. The ballot for fans included Rebecca Lobo, Tari Phillips, Crystal Robinson, Tamika Whitmore and Sophia Witherspoon.
