Liberty Rally Late, Fall Short to Seattle, 69-78

SEATTLE - Just two days after playing in Chicago, the New York Liberty met the Storm in Seattle for the second time this season, and despite rallying late in the game, the team fell, 69-78. Kia Nurse tied Seattle's Crystal Langhorne for a game-high 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc.

Seattle jumped out to quick 6-0 lead in the first 90 seconds of the game. The team made 4-5 field goals from the tip and shot 2-2 from deep. Seattle was hot in the first half, shooting 42.5% from the field and 52.9% from three. New York shot 33.3% from the field and 16.7% from deep.

Turnovers plagued both teams in the first half, but the Liberty's 14 first half turnovers led to 20 points for the Storm. Despite getting down by as many 20 points, the Liberty battled back to cut the Storm's lead to 13 going into the locker room at the half.

The Liberty started the third quarter slowly but picked up their defensive intensity and went on a 6-0 run mid-way through the quarter. New York was unable to sustain their momentum throughout the third quarter and despite outscoring Seattle 26-12 in the fourth, the late rally wasn't enough to secure the win.

UP NEXT: The Liberty will be back in action at home against the Los Angeles Sparks for the third and final time in the regular season on Saturday, July 20 at 3 p.m. ET.

LIBERTY NOTES:

* New York shot 36.8% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc as a team. Each Liberty player to touch the floor scored at least two points.

* Per the injury report, Asia Durr was questionable going into today's game due to a minor groin strain. She did not play in today's game.

* Tina Charles scored nine points on a season-low 13.3% (2-15) shooting from the field. Today, Charles passed Taj McWilliams Franklin on the league's all-time rebounding list. She is now in 6th place with 3014 behind Tina Thompson's 3070 career rebounds.

* Bria Hartley added seven points for the team and five assists.

* In her second game with the Liberty, Marine Johannès scored seven points on

* Veteran guard Tanisha Wright contributed six points and a team-high four assists.

STORM NOTES:

* Three Seattle players scored in double figures in the team's second-consecutive home win today. Crystal Langhorn led scoring for Seattle with 19 points off of the bench.

* The Storm shot 42.3% from the field and 38.2% from beyond the arc.

* Natasha Howard scored 10 points in the first half and 14 on the night. Jordin Canada added nine points, eight assists and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds.
