Liberty Move to 4-0 by Topping Seattle

TEAM NOTABLES

On Monday, the New York Liberty (4-0) defeated the Seattle Storm (1-3), 74-63, in their second home game of the 2024 season in front of a sellout crowd of 9,381.

At 4-0, this is the Liberty's best start to the season since 2007, and just the third time in franchise history that New York started the season 4-0 or better (1997, 2007).

Seattle scored just 24 points in the first half, which was the lowest scoring first half by a Liberty opponent since June 19, 2018.

New York knocked down 95% of the team's 20 free-throw attempts, marking the eighth time in franchise history that the Liberty shot 95% or better from the line on at least 20 free-throw attempts.

Q1: New York went on a 21-9 run from the 8:18 mark of the first to the 0:30 mark of the first quarter.

PLAYER NOTABLES

With her rebound at 8:48 of the first quarter, Jonquel Jones became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 2000 rebounds and 250 three-pointers (240 games), passing Lauren Jackson (254 games) . Jones is one of eight players all-time to reach those marks, and also became the sixth-fastest player to reach 2000 rebounds. Her final line for the night included 16 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty offense with 20 points and eight assists. Ionescu also picked up her 100th career steal in the fourth quarter.

Breanna Stewart posted a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Stewart added three steals and two blocks and has had at least five stocks (combined steals + blocks) in each of her last three games, which is tied for the longest streak of her career.

Betnijah Laney-Hamilton accumulated 13 points, four assists and three rebounds on 4-9 shooting from the field. Laney-Hamilton finished with a +16 plus-minus for the fourth consecutive game, setting a new WNBA record for most games with a plus-minus above +15 to start the season.
