Indiana Fever News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever (0-3) host the Connecticut Sun (2-0) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Monday night for the second of four matchups this regular season between the two teams. Monday will be the fourth consecutive national broadcast featuring the Indiana Fever, with tip set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Connecticut has taken each of the last nine meetings against Indiana, and the last four in Indianapolis.

Indiana and Connecticut last met six days ago at Mohegan Sun Arena for the WNBA regular season tipoff. Both Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark and Sun forward DeWanna Bonner recorded team-highs in scoring with 20 points each and accomplished notable milestones while doing so.

Clark's 20-point performance ranks as the second-highest point showing for a Fever player in a rookie debut, just three points behind Tamika Catchings. In Clark's 32 minutes of playing time against Connecticut, she also tallied three assists and all six of her free throw shots. In Clark's first three games with the Fever, she joined WNBA legends Sue Bird, Candace Parker and Nikki McCray as the only first-year players to score at least 50 points and distribute at least 15 assists in the first three WNBA regular season games. Bonner's 20 points last week against Indiana elevated her to fifth on the WNBA's all-time leading scorer rankings, passing Candice Dupree.

Fever forward NaLyssa Smith, who had a 20-point showing in both of Indiana's preseason matchups, recorded a team-high nine rebounds and was the only other Fever player with more than 10 points the first time out against the Sun. Tuesday's matchup was Smith's 64th career game and her 50th scoring at least 10 points. Along with Bonner on Connecticut's side, four other Sun players scored in double figures on Tuesday in front of a sold out Mohegan Sun crowd. Sun forward Alyssa Thomas recorded her first triple-double of the season with 13 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds, the 12th triple-double of her career.

Following the regular-season opener against Connecticut, the Fever competed against the New York Liberty twice in four days, losing the first matchup, 102-66, at home, and then lost, 91-80, at Barclays Center on Saturday. Since the opening-night win, the Sun added to its Indiana win with an 84-77 victory against the Washington Mystics on Friday. Bonner led her team again with 22 points, with Thomas recording a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
