
Liberty Eclipses Sun in Win

On Wednesday, the New York Liberty (7-10) defeated the Connecticut Sun (12-6), 81-77, in the third game of their 2022 four-game season series.
At Mohegan Sun Arena, the Liberty finished on 44.9% (31-69) shooting from the field, 40.6% (13-32) from three, and 75% (6-8) at the free throw line.
New York amassed a season-high 51 points in the first half, including 10 made three-pointers on 47.6% (10-21) shooting. Their 10 first-half makes from deep came one short of the franchise record of 11 set earlier this month on June 10 at Indiana in a 97-83 victory. Overall, the Liberty tied a season-high with their 13 made three-pointers.

Five Liberty players scored in double figures in tonight's game (Dolson, Howard, Whitcomb, Ionescu, Johannès).
Highlighted by her nine-point first quarter on a perfect 100% (4-4) shooting, Stefanie Dolson finished with a team-high 16 points on 77.8% (7-9) shooting from the floor, six rebounds, four assists, and a block.
Sami Whitcomb came off the bench and knocked down a season-high four three-pointers on 66.7% (4-6) shooting. On the night, she finished with 14 points on 55.6% (5-9) shooting from the floor, four assists, and three rebounds.
Natasha Howard totaled 14 points, four assists, and three rebounds, and two blocks.
Sabrina Ionescu recorded her second consecutive double-double finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
Marine Johannès totaled 11 points on 40% (4-10) shooting from the floor, including three first-quarter triples. She also added five assists, two rebounds, and a steal.
For Connecticut, Courtney Williams finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
