
Lessard Scores in Overtime to Give Allen a 3-1 Series Lead

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans and Denver Cutthroats faced off against each other in Game 4 of the Presidents' Cup Finals at the Allen Event Center on Friday night. Allen captured a 4-3 overtime victory over Denver, and now holds a 3-1 series lead over the Cutthroats.
Denver jumped out to an early lead at the 4:51 mark of the first period when Robin Soudek lit the lamp, with the assists going to Cam Reid and Lee Moffie, giving Denver a 1-0 lead.
Allen tied it up at the 14:28 mark of the frame when Jonathan Lessard notched his seventh goal of the playoffs, assisted by Tyler Ludwig and Mike Berube. Both teams headed into the intermission tied at 1, but Allen held a 20-7 edge on shots.
Allen took a 2-1 lead only 2:35 into the middle frame. Jamie Schaafsma fired a shot past Cutthroat goalie Kent Patterson, with the assists going to Greger Hanson and Bruce Graham.
The Cutthroats came back to tie the game at 2, less the three minutes later, at the 4:58 mark of the frame. Aaron Mackenzie netted the puck, assisted by TJ Fox and Sean Zimmerman. Denver took a 3-2 lead over Allen halfway through the second period at the 10:35 mark. Jean-Philipp Chabot slid the puck past American goalie, Bryan Pitton, on a 5-on-3 power play. Troy Schwab was credited with the assist.
With 2:17 remaining in the second period, Daniel Tetrault found the back of the net, for the second time in two games, to tie the game at 3, the assists going to Ross Rouleau and Jonathan Lessard. At the end of the second, both teams remained tied at 3, but Denver kept an edge on shots 19-12.
After a scoreless third period, Allen and Denver headed into sudden death overtime. Jonathan Lessard netted the game-winner at the 3:53 mark of the extra frame. The goal, his second of the night, was assisted by Steven Tarasuk and Kale Kerbashian.
With the 4-3 victory, Allen now leads the series 3-1 and has the chance to take the series in Game 5 on Saturday night at the Allen Event Center.
