WICHITA, Kan. (May 29, 2007) - Kansas City Royals pitcher Leo Nunez has been sent to the Wranglers on a Major League Rehab Assignment. Nunez will start and be piggybacked by Luke Hochevar in Tuesday night's game against Frisco at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
In 2006, Nunez compiled a 4.73 ERA in 7 games for the Royals in 3 different stints allowing 7 earned runs on 15 hits. He opened the 2006 season in Wichita where he was 1-2 with 3 saves before getting called up. Nunez has been on the disabled list since April 1 with a right wrist fracture.
