Lekkas Lifts Jr. Blues over Topeka 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Stefanos Lekkas helped the Springfield Jr. Blues defeat the Topeka RoadRunners, 4-1.

Topeka's power play was ineffective against Springfield's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Jr. Blues were led by Joshua Lammon, who tallied one goal. Lammon scored 2:21 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Springfield. Patrick Curry picked up the assist.

 

Springfield also got a goal from Matt Woodley as well. In addition, Springfield received assists from Trevor Stone, who had one.

Topeka's offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.3 shots per game it averages.

The RoadRunners were led by Tyler Poulsen, who scored the team's only goal. Poulsen scored 2:05 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Polin assisted on the tally.

Lekkas rejected 27 shots on goal for the Jr. Blues. Springfield incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Drew Vogler recorded 17 saves for Topeka. The RoadRunners incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
