Wildcats, NAHL Team in Support of Movember Campaign
October 28, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Wichita Falls Wildcats are pleased to announce they will join the North American Hockey League in raising money for the Movember campaign this November. For the second-straight season, the NAHL will lead a league-wide fundraising effort involving all 24 teams and the over 550+ players in the league.
The NAHL Movember campaign is all about bringing back the moustache, having fun and doing it for a serious cause; raising funds and awareness for men's health initiatives, specifically prostate and testicular cancer research.
As the official rules of Movember state, all "Mo Bros", once registered, must begin clean-shaven on the Nov. 1 and grow just a moustache (no beards, no goatees) for the 30 days of November. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery, all in the name of raising funds for men's health initiatives.
Participation is simple - men and women register with Movember to grow or support the Mo. Once registered, Movember participants recruit friends, family and colleagues to donate to their Mo- growing efforts. Fans are also encouraged to tweet pictures of their mustaches to @WFWildcats and @NAHLHockey.
By joining the Wildcats' Movember team, fans will automatically be a part of the team's NAHL Network page, with all donations to the Wildcats' Movember team accumulating under the organization's total. The NAHL team with the most funds raised by the end of the month will win a team prize package from Gongshow Hockey Gear.
Founded in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has quickly grown into a global initiative featuring over one million participants worldwide last year. In 2012, Movember US saw more than 209,000 Americans growing and supporting the Mo, raising $21 million to combat prostate and testicular cancer.
