Legends Pull Away with Strong Second Half

Frisco, TX DEC. 2, 2011 - After falling behind early, the Texas Legends pulled away for their first victory of the year, defeating the Canton Charge 101-88 in the Canton Memorial Civic Center, in Canton, Ohio. The Legends outscored the Charge 56-41 in the second half, led by Dominique Johnson who poured in a team high 24 points.

With the Legends Jamal Sampson out for the game with a sprained ankle, Lawrence Hill stepped up providing 17 points and 10 rebounds in the front court. Vance Cooksey supplied another double-double for the Legends with 17 points and 10 assists, his second double-double of the season.

The Canton Charge relied heavily on Tyrell Biggs who led the game with 29 points, but the battle of the boards told the story at the Legends decisively controlled the glass 47-39, their third straight game to do so.

Texas had great production from their bench as Ramon Dyer pulled down 13 rebounds for game high honors, while Booker Woodfox supplied 17 points on 11 shot attempts.

The Legends had their best shooting night of season making 48.1% of their shots, while Canton struggled from the field at 41.8%. For the first time this season Texas turned the ball over more than their opponent, losing possession 19 times compared to the Charge's 15.

Canton (0-2) and Texas (1-2) will quickly ice up and prepare lace up again tomorrow as they finish a back to back in the Canton Memorial Civic Center at 6:30PM CST.
