Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends will host their annual "Pink Out" night promoting breast cancer awareness on Feb. 8th. The night, presented by Kia, will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
NBCF has been helping women for the past 28 years by providing assistance for and inspiring hope in those affected by breast cancer. Founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor Janelle Hail, NBCF provides early detection, education, and support services. Statistics say 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lifetime, and NBCF offers free programs to walk alongside those diagnosed.
The night is made possible by Kia, who makes it their mission to partner with non-profit organizations supporting those who need it most in our communities. As part of the night, the Legends will wear pink jerseys co-branded with both Kia and NBCF logos.
"Our players know when they come to Frisco that this is about more than just basketball," said Legends President and General Manager Malcolm Farmer. "We use our platform of sport to inspire change and positive impact on the world around us, and this night is a great example of that. Our players and staff have all been impacted by this disease in some form or fashion and they love to go out there and play for not only their own loved ones but those in our community fighting this fight."
Legends players and coaches spent this morning volunteering at NBCF to learn more about the services the organization provides and who they're playing for on the 8th. At halftime of the game, Legends fans will be asked to fill out a poster and stand for someone in their life affected by the disease.
"It means a lot to our guys to don the pink jerseys and play with passion. All of our nights are special and bigger than basketball, but this is one that, unfortunately, hits them personally. So, we're excited to partner with Kia and draw attention to early detection and resources available."
The Legends will face the Iowa Wolves at 7:30pm on Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Come out, wear pink, and stand up for those fighting. For tickets or information call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
