Hickory Crawdads News Release
Hickory, NC-The Hickory Crawdads lost to the Lexington Legends, 8-3, Tuesday at L.P. Frans Stadium.
The Legends took an early 1-0 lead off of Dads' SP Mike Crotta in the 1st. Cesar Quintero singled, stole second, moved to third on a groundout by Eric Taylor, and scored on a grounder from Jordan Parraz.
After Hickory failed to score over the first 2 innings, Lexington added to its lead with a run in the 3rd and another in the 4th. The Crawdads got their first runs in the bottom of the 4th. Jonel Pacheco creamed his 10th homer of the season out to left. The 2-run shot cut Lexington's lead to 3-2.
But, the Legends responded with a 5 run scoring barrage off Crotta and RP Matt Lorenzo in the 6th. The inning was capped off by Quintero's 3 homer.
The Dads' collected a run in the bottom of the 6th as Jared Keel knocked in Alex Presley to cut the deficit to 8-3. But that would be it for the scoring for both sides. Stephen MacFarland worked 2 scoreless innings out of the Hickory bullpen. Bryan Hallberg did not allow a run in 3 IP en route to his first save.
Crotta (2-2) took the loss. Doug Arguello (2-2) of the Legends picked up the win.
The Crawdads are off Wednesday before opening up a 4-game series Thursday in Augusta. The Dads' return home Monday, May 21st, for a tilt with the Kannapolis Intimidators.
