Birmingham Barons News Release

Birmingham, AL - Hak-Ju Lee legged out a bases clearing triple in the seventh inning as the Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Birmingham Barons 5-1 Saturday night in front of 3,744 fans at Regions Park.

The Barons struck first, scoring their only run of the game on an RBI single by Carlos Sanchez in the third inning. Sanchez finished 3-for-4 in his Barons debut after being promoted from Class A Winston-Salem earlier in the day.

The Biscuits would come back to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth on an RBI double into the left field corner by Greg Sexton. The score would remain knotted until the seventh when the Biscuits recorded three straight singles including an RBI hit by Brett Nommensen to take a 2-1 lead. Barons' starter Spencer Arroyo (4- 1, 3.31), who had allowed just two hits trough the first six innings, was removed with two outs in the innings and the bases loaded. Ryan Kussmaul relieved Arroyo and promptly surrendered a bases-clearing triple to Lee as the Biscuits took a 5-1 lead.

The Barons were unable to mount a serious comeback threat over the last three innings, dropping their fifth game in the last seven against the Biscuits.

The loss went to Arroyo who allowed five runs on five hits in 6.2 innings while striking out three and walking two. The win went to Matt Buschmann (4-5, 3.99) who allowed a run on three hits in 6.0 innings while striking out six. The loss dropped the Barons to 44-54 on the season and 14-15 in the second half while the Biscuits improved to 53-44 and 17-12 in the second half.

The Barons will look to earn a series split tomorrow afternoon as RHP Jacob Petricka (0-1, 5.40) takes the hill against RHP Nick Barnese (1-0, 4.98). First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM CDT.
