Denver Outlaws News Release
DENVER - Major League Lacrosse announced Denver Outlaws defenseman Lee Zink as Week 7's Warrior Defensive Player of the Week on Monday in recognition of his performance in Denver's 16-11 win over the New York Lizards this past Saturday.
Zink anchored a defense that held the Lizards to 11 goals and 27 ground balls-both numbers below their season averages. The two-time MLL Defensive Player of the Year kept New York power players Jo-Jo Marasco and Ned Crotty to only two points in the outing.
The 10-year MLL veteran is a seven-time All-Star and will play for Team USA this summer when they face the MLL All-Star squad before competing at the 2014 FIL World Championships.
Zink has appeared in 124 MLL games, which ranks sixth all-time in MLL history, with 103 of those games being for the Outlaws.
Zink is the second Denver Outlaws to receive this honor this season-goalie Jesse Schwartzman was the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3.
The Outlaws return to action at home against the Chesapeake Bayhawks on Saturday, June 21, at 5:00 p.m. MDT.
