ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have signed former UAA defenseman Lee Green, acquired three weeks ago from the Reading Royals in exchange for the rights to forward Justin Bourne.

Green grew up in Soldotna, Alaska (two hours south of Anchorage on the Kenai peninsula) and served as captain of the Seawolves as a junior in 2003-04. After scoring eight goals and assisting on 18 others in 137 college games, Green turned pro with Fresno and played one and a half seasons in Las Vegas, actually suiting up for the Wranglers the night they were beaten 4-3 in triple overtime in the 2006 West Division Finals by Alaska. The rugged, 6-1, 210-pounder was traded to Reading midway through last season and later made his American Hockey League debut in Binghamton. Green, who will turn 26 in November, has six goals and 17 assists in 117 pro games.

Bourne, meanwhile, reportedly led the New York Islanders in scoring during a recent mini-camp after cutting his teeth as a pro with three goals and three assists in nine games with the Aces at the tail end of the 2006-07 season. He added three goals and two helpers in eight games as Alaska reached its third consecutive conference final, only the second ECHL team ever to do so.

Alaska's 2007-08 campaign opens at Sullivan Arena October 10-11, with a pair of pre-season games against South Division finalist Texas at 7:15 p.m. Aces season tickets start at only $396 and are now available; please call 258-ACES or visit www.alaskaaces.com for more details. Alaska begins its regular season slate in Fresno on October 23 before returning home Friday, November 2, to play American Conference finalist Florida in the first of a three-game series at 7:15 p.m.
