Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, PA (July 26, 2007) - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that they have agreed to terms with Defenseman Bryan Nathe. The fourth year pro will be returning for his second season with the Chiefs.
The 24-year old native of Elk River, MN comes back after playing in 54 games last season with the Chiefs, recording 2 goals and 11 assists. He also chipped in one goal in two playoff games last year. Before coming to Johnstown, he spent the previous two seasons skating for the Chiefs' North Division rival Dayton Bombers. While in Dayton, he played in 135 games, notching 3 goals and 20 assists.
"Bryan is very steady defenseman that will provide stability, experience and leadership on our blue line. We are excited to have him back in Johnstown," stated Chiefs head coach, Ian Herbers.
A stay-at-home defenseman, Nathe earned a spot on the 2001 U.S. junior national team before spending two years at Northeastern University (NCAA Hockey East). After spending two seasons playing collegiate hockey, Nathe made the jump to major junior, spending the rest of the 2003 season with the Brandon Wheat Kings, and the 2004 season with the Everett Silvertips, both of the Western Hockey League (WHL). While in Everett, Nathe contributed eight points in 21 post-season games helping the team reach the WHL finals.
The Chiefs kick off their 20th anniversary season on Thursday, Oct. 18 at home vs. Wheeling. It is the ECHL's feature stand-alone game that night and a rematch of the first ever Riley Cup finals. Chiefs' season tickets are now on sale. Call to ask about our special Arrowhead Club package where you can receive a free 20th anniversary jersey and nameplate on your seat!
