Leafs down Bears in shootout 3-2

HERSHEY loses a shootout for the first time this season as the Leafs sweep the weekend set at Mile One Stadium.

HERSHEY would score the lone goal of the first period when Johnny Boychuk buried a shot into the top left corner of the net past Leafs goaler Mikael Tellqvist. The goal at the 14:56 mark was assisted by Mike Souza and gave the BEARS a 1-0 lead at first intermission. The Leafs outshot HERSHEY 7-6 in the first and had a furious rush in the middle of the period on the power play with three shots and one off the crossbar against Peter Budaj.

The teams traded second period goals, with Clarke Wilm scoring for St. John's at the 14:04 mark of the second to tie the game at one. Eric Perrin then scored on the power play at the 18:13 mark to once again give the BEARS the lead. The BEARS led 2-1 after two period.

In the third period, the Leafs tied the game at the 4:42 mark. Nathan Barrett scored at the 4:42 mark of the third before the Leafs won in the shootout.

The BEARS continue a four game road trip next Friday night with a game at Syracuse against the Crunch. Face-off next Friday is set for 7:30 p.m.
