Tulsa Oilers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers are dipping into the Three Rivers for their newest 2004 signee. Quebec native Alain Cote inked a contract today, becoming Tulsa's 11th signing of the off-season and 12th overall.
The 'do-everything' defenseman spent last season in the QSMHL playing with the St. Jean Mission; he'll be reunited with Mission teammate Jean-Francois Piche.
"When you have guys that have already been teammates, your team automatically takes a huge step forward. With the handful of guys on the team who were Oilers last year and Alain and JF playing together already... chemistry should not be a problem," says Oilers Coach Butch Kaebel.
In 50 games last season, Cote had 16 points (3g, 13a) and 64 penalty minutes.
"You can't judge a guy like Alain on numbers alone, he'll be the full-back of this team, there's always an unsung hero on every squad," according to Kaebel.
The numbers you can judge Cote by are these: 6'1", 220 pounds. Also, 1971. Kaebel adds, "He'll bring a lot of maturity to our team, that's for sure."
