Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, CO â The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League have re-signed another member of their inaugural squad. Head Coach Chris Stewart announced the re-signing of center Brad Patterson for the 2004-05 season.
Patterson, 24, scored 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points in the Eagles' inaugural campaign. He skated in two games for the New Mexico Scorpions prior to being picked up by the Eagles on October 29. The speedy center played 60 games with the Eagles and was third on the team in game-winning goals with four. In game one of the divisional playoffs, the 5'9", 170-pound center netted both goals for the Eagles in a 3-2 loss against the Wichita Thunder.
"I am extremely excited to come back and finish what we have started," said Patterson. "Hopefully we can bring a championship to the wonderful fans we have in Northern Colorado."
Before playing professionally, the Cranbrook, British Columbia native skated for four seasons at Michigan Tech. In 143 games, Patterson tallied 61 points (14G, 47A) and toughed out 74 penalty minutes for the Huskies. Immediately following his playing days at Michigan Tech, Patterson played two games for the Knoxville Speed of the United Hockey League where he recorded one assist to finish out the season.
Patterson is the sixth Eagles player signed on for the 2004-05 season. He joins defenseman Bryan Vines, and forwards Sean Robertson, Karlis Zirnis, Jesse Heerema, and Kevin Marsh. Patterson has competed in 64 professional games and fits under the CHL's developmental player rule stating that each team must have a minimum of five players with 128 professional games or fewer.
The Eagles second season of play begins on October 15 and 16, 2004 against the Tulsa Oilers for two exhibition games at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. The regular season begins on the road at the Ford Center against the Oklahoma City Blazers on October 22, 2004. The Memphis RiverKings are in town for the home opener on October 29, 2004 at 7:05 pm.
