Lawrence pitches Braves past IronPigs

Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 4-1 Saturday at The Diamond. Braves starting pitcher Brian Lawrence tossed seven strong innings as the Braves evened the series at a game each.

Richmond took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Scott Thorman. Lawrence second inning sacrifice bunt brought Carl Loadenthal in to score to give the Braves a 2-0 advantage. The IronPigs scored their lone run of the night on an RBI single by Andy Tracy to cut Richmond's lead to 2-1. The Braves added a run in the third on an RBI single by Diory Hernandez. Richmond tacked on a run in the seventh on another RBI single by Hernandez.

Lawrence earned the win. Jorge Julio picked up a save. Kris Benson took the loss. Thorman and Hernandez had two hits each for the Braves. Tracy had two hits for the IronPigs.
