Lavoie Commits to Steelheads

MISSISSAUGA, ON - Steelheads General Manager/ Head Coach, James Richmond announced on Friday afternoon that 2020 first round pick, Zak Lavoie has signed a Standard Player Agreement with the Hockey Club.

"What an incredible feeling it is to sign with the Steelheads," says Lavoie. "I would like to thank the Steelheads organization for this opportunity, as well as Eric Faion and Joe Resnick for their support over the years. I would also like to thank my coaches, whose support and belief in me has been constant. Lastly, I would like to thank Greg Pollock for all of his training over the past years, and the years to come. I can't wait to get things started in Mississauga!"

Selected 7th overall in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, Lavoie registered an impressive 51 goals and 35 assists in 68 games with the Toronto Nationals this past season. The dynamic right-winger finished atop the GTHL with a point per game average of 1.33 and was a consistent offensive threat for the Nats all season long.

Steelheads GM and Head Coach, James Richmong comments on today's signing, "We are very happy to get a commitment from Zak and the Lavoie family. He's a player that we coveted all season long and I think our fans are really going to enjoy watching him in the blue and white in the seasons to come. Zak is quick on his feet and possesses a wonderful scoring touch. His compete level is excellent and we think he's going to fit in very nicely with our group."
